About us
After an extended long-distance love affair with the greater Cederberg/Karoo region that spanned decades and hundreds of visits, Robin and Elsa finally swapped their demanding jobs and beloved seaside village home in Kalk Bay, Cape Town, for a slightly neglected Tankwa guest farm in 2018.
Their dream: to turn it into a world-class destination. As regular voyagers to beautiful but unfiltered and off the beaten track destinations around the world themselves, Tierkloof presented them with an opportunity to incorporate and build upon all the valuable experience and lessons they had garnered over the course of these travels. So it was that their first two years on Tierkloof were spent feverishly building and polishing the operation to their own, by now, extremely high standards. Today, they remain unashamedly passionate about and completely invested in their dream venture and continue to seek new ways to expand and enhance their beautiful guest estate.
Robin and Elsa are fiercely ethical and highly respectful of both their natural environment and their fellow humans. Both live permanently on Tierkloof, with Robin having left his previous position in publishing to focus full time on Tierkloof, and Elsa having resigned as a director in a large media strategy/buying company to focus both on the farm and her new role as an independent media strategist working remotely.
