Terms and Conditions

• Rates
  Are per night and are subject to change without prior notice. 

• Payment
  A 50% deposit is required to secure the booking. The balance is due 7 days prior to arrival. If a guests opts to pay the deposit via EFT, this should be done within 12 hours of booking. If payment is not made in this time frame, we reserve the right to cancel the booking. 

• Cleaning/Servicing
  Since we rely on permanent (live in) staff and are unable to use casual staff due to our distance from town, we are unfortunately unable to offer a cleaning service for guests. Should this be a major issue, please speak to us to see what can be arranged. If we are able to assist, the requirements are as follows:
• Servicing/cleaning will have to be done around our existing cleaning/preparation schedule for the cottages.
• Servicing over weekends will incur an additional cost (to be paid directly by you to the cleaners)

• Children
  Regret no children under 2 or children that can't swim.

• Capacity
  The maximum number of people we will accommodate is 10 at the Fort, 6 at Serenity and 4 at Dragon Rock as additional people put considerable strain on our infrastructure.

• Bookings made by one group for more than one cottage
  We no longer accept bookings for larger groups that who wish to occupy more than one cottage. If a booking is made on this basis, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.

• Minimum Stay
  The minimum stay throughout the year is 2 nights. Over the peak periods (school holidays and long weekends) the minimum stay is three nights, with some long weekends (e.g. Easter) being 4 nights.

• Check-In/Out
  Check-in time: 14h00 (Sunday check-in is 15h00)
  Check-out time: 10h00 (Sunday check-out is 11h00). If we have no booking on a Sunday night, Sunday check-out is at 14h00. Other late check-outs by arrangement. We reserve the right to change check-in/check-out times based on operational requirements of the business, however you will be notified of this well before arrival.

• Cancellation/Postponement Policy (this is strict and includes Covid-related cancellations/postponements unless we are able to fill the booking)
  If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
  If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
  If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 75% of the deposit.
  If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.

• Unfenced Pools
  All dwellings have unfenced pools. Guests and their children use these pools strictly at their own risk. Young children, whether swimming or not, must therefore be supervised by at least one suitably capable adult at all times. 

• Pets
  2 Dogs per cottage are allowed by prior arrangement with management and must conform to the following requirements:
  - They must be socialised and controllable. You may encounter our dogs or other guests' pets while out on an excursion.
  - They must not be in any way inclined to chase other animals or birds, nor may they visit other cottages.
  - They are strictly not allowed to swim in the pools or climb onto or lie on couches and beds. We have encountered serious issues removing animal hair from pool filters, furniture and bedding and our light-coloured fabric covered couches tend to mark. Definitely no dogs that have not been house-trained.

         NOTE THAT COTTAGES ARE NOT FENCED.

• Access
  Access to the farm is via gravel roads. While we often host guests travelling in compact two-wheel drive cars, a high clearance vehicle is an advantage and will turn a slow and careful trundle into a relaxed drive through the veld.  Assistance is readily available to guests experiencing any doubts or difficulties. 

• Linen
  We operate on solar power only and thus ironing of bed linen is not possible. We do promise that the linen will be 100% farm fresh! 

• Appliances
  All units rely 100% on solar power and thus no heating appliances may be used (e.g. microwaves/toasters/coffee machines/hairdryers etc.).

• Smoking
  Absolutely NO SMOKING inside please. 

• Fires
  Please take care with fires and barbecues when it is windy, as the veld is dry and will burn easily. Do not leave any fires unattended. 

• Drones
  While we do allow drone use, we require that drone operators respect the privacy of guests in the other cottages. If we receive complaints or observe continued misbehaviour in this respect we reserve the right to insist that drone use cease immediately. 

• Damage to property
  Any damage to Tierkloof property will be for the guest's account. 

• Parties
  Our guests come here to experience the tranquillity of the Karoo, so please do not play loud music or disturb the peace in any way. Should you be asked more than once to reduce noise, you will be asked to vacate the farm (no refund). If dressing up, please be aware that we do not allow glitter to be brought onto the farm. The wind blows it into the veld and it is environmentally harmful. Getting rid of it inside is also an impossible task.

• Hunting and shooting
  No shooting/hunting is permitted.

DISCLAIMER

Management and staff or any other person associated with Tierkloof Mountain Cottages will not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or illness incurred or suffered by any guests or any other person whilst on the premises of Tierkloof Mountain Cottages.
